Existing Building Energy Code, Gazetted in 1995 Requirements on Designated Buildings in the Ministerial Regulation USA ASHRAE Std & Singapore energy code as models Building and Systems • Overall Thermal Transfer Value (OTTV) of the building envelope < 45 Wm-2, new building • Efficient Electric Lighting < 16 Wm-2 office. • Efficient chillers and compressors (not the system). Building Energy Management • Conduct energy audit • Plan and retrofit building • Report energy use European and USA codes as models

  5. Features of the New Building Energy Code • 1. The new code applies to new buildings only. • 2. System performance requirementsare used. The target systems are: •  building envelope •  lighting system •  air-conditioning system • 3. Differentiationare made for different types of building. • A new OTTV formulation for each type of building • Type of building OTTV formulation • office & school • hotel & hospital • superstore & dept store • One OTTV formulation for each type of building

  6. Features of the New Building Energy Code 3. (cont.)A new lighting power budget for each type of building (e.g. 14 Wm-2 for office) - A system performance regime for each main type of air-conditioner (e.g. EER > 9.6 for split type A/C) Each minimum performance level is set from a life cycle cost study for each system requirement through use of computer simulation for each type of building. Features of the New Building Energy Code • The OTTV of each of the exterior surface wall (OTTVi) shall be calculated from • OTTVi = (Uw)(1-WWR)( TDeq) + (Uf)(WWR)(DT) • + (WWR)(SHGC)(SC)(ESR) • One set of values of the parameters TDeq, DT, and ESR is given for each category of building. • TDeq is a function of solar absorptance of surface,specific heat- density-mass of wall, orientation of wall, • inclination angle of wall • This is developed from regression of cooling coil, and is related directly to cooling coil load and energy consumption of a building.

Energy Performance Requirements on Building Envelope Summary • The Overall Thermal Transfer Value (OTTV) of wall of a building represents the size of the average heat gain through the envelope (inclusive of walls and windows) as sensed by the air-conditioning system of the building. • For office or school, O-OTTV < 50 Wm-2 • For Department store or hypermarket, S-OTTV < 40Wm-2 • For Hotel or hospital, H-OTTV < 30 Wm-2 • For roof of , • Office and school, O-RTTV < 15 Wm-2 • Department storeor hypermarket, S-RTTV < 12 Wm-2 • Hotel or hospital, H-RTTV < 10 Wm-2

  10. Energy Performance Requirements for Air-conditioning Energy performance of air-conditioning system(s) within a building Minimum performance for unitary air-conditioners

  11. Energy Performance Requirements for Air-conditioning Large air-conditioning system When a large air-conditioning system is used, energy performance is required on the water chillers, and on other parts of the air-conditioning system. Minimum performance for water chillers.

  13. ค่ารังสีอาทิตย์(Effective Solar Radiation; ESR) ค่ารังสีอาทิตย์คือรังสีอาทิตย์รวมที่ตกกระทบบนผนังมีค่าขึ้นอยู่กับมุมเอียงและทิศทางการวัดค่ามุมเอียงของผนังของอาคารวัดจากมุมที่ผนังอาคารกระทำกับพื้นผิวโลก (หรือพื้นดิน) โดยผนังในแนวตั้งจะมีค่ามุมเอียงเท่ากับ 90 องศาขณะที่ผนังในแนวระนาบนอน (หรือหลังคาแบบเรียบ) จะมีค่ามุมเอียงเท่ากับ 0 องศา
