Why Learning Technology Program • 42% of teachers received six or more hours of basic-skill training, whereas only 29% received curriculum-integration training (Education Week, 1999) • Only 44% of new teachers consider themselves well-prepared to use technology (National Center for Education Statistics, 2001) • Training on “integrating technology into curriculum” has a greater influence on teachers than training on “basic technology skills”

  3. Objectives of LT Program • Apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support diverse learners • Use technology to support learner-centered instruction • Utilize technology for effective assessment and evaluation • Enhance teachers’ productivity and professional practice

Characteristics of LT Program • A Cohort-based program • State-of-the-art instructional technology • Technology integration into curriculum • Emphasis on content and technology standards • Minnesota Graduation Standards • International Society for Technology in Education’s (ISTE) National Educational Technology Standards (NETS)

Key Program Features • Cooperative and group learning • User-friendly course management system, student email account and web page hosting • Evening and weekend classes at the state-of-the-art Minneapolis location or as an off-campus cohort program in your area • After-hours and weekend tech support • Individualized electronic portfolio for personal learning and teaching plan

LT Certificate Program • A four-course graduate program in • Introduction to Learning Technologies • Web Site and Educational Software Evaluation • Digital Media Development • Integrating Technology into the Classroom • Graduate credits can be transferred toward a M.A. degree in Curriculum and Instruction

M.A. in Learning Technology • 10 courses, 30 semester credits, including • First four courses in the LT Certificate Program • Special topics, cognitive instruction, program evaluation, internship, and electives. • Students will • Improve classroom learning/teaching through innovative technology applications • Understand, demonstrate and integrate essential educational technology tools • Become leaders in educational change.
