Computer Lab Rules • Come prepared to learn everyday. • Arrive on time and stay the entire time. • We expect students to stay for the entire quarter. • All students need to create a Gmail account. • Cell phones must be turned off during class time. If a student’s phone rings during class, the teacher will ask the student to go home. • No drinks No gum No smoking • Children are not allowed in class.

  4. Attendance • If you cannot come to class for 2 or more days in a row, you must email Rochelle at roral@fremont.k12.ca.us or call 510-793-2240 and leave a message with the secretary. • If you are absent for more than 2 days in a row and you do not contact the teacher or the school, you will be dropped from the class. • When you call, please say your first name and last name. Please spell your last name. Please say your teacher’s name, Rochelle, andESL Computer Basics Class. Please say how many days you will be absent and the reason for your absence. • If you miss too many classes, you will be dropped from the class. Please talk to the teacher about changing to another class.

  5. If You Are Absent • If you are absent, it is your responsibility to ask another student about any missed class work. • The teacher makes enough copies for each class. If you need a copy of any handouts, please ask the teacher. • The teacher reviews lessons everyday, but she does not re-teach the lessons.

Computer Basics • How to turn on and turn off a computer • How to log in with VESL • How to use the Start Menu to find Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel • How to use the Start Menu to find Computer • Parts of a window- tool bar, ribbon, task bar, dialogue box, tabs, minimize, maximize, scroll bar • How to make a new folder and name it • How to save documents • Recognize icons

  9. Keyboarding • Improve keyboarding skills • Students will keyboard for 15 minutes every day • Learn and use keyboard shortcuts such as CTRL C, CTRL V, CTRL X, CTRL A, CTRL B, CTRL U, CTRL I

Microsoft Word Basics • Open a new Word document • Type words in a document • Save a document • Format words- font, size, color, bold, underline, italic • Insert and format Clip Art • Insert and format Text Boxes • Edit Text Box shapes • Cut, copy, paste words • Double clicking, triple clicking • Create a flyer • Insert a Table in a document
