WESTLAW檢索 & 瀏覽功能Terms and Connectors Searching 布林邏輯檢索 • Choose only search terms significant to your issue 確定檢索詞 • Consider using alternative terms such as synonyms or antonyms使用同義詞 • To retrieve variations of words, use the Root Expander (!) • Use connectors to specify relationships between the key terms 各檢索詞間之布林邏輯設定，以便精確找到文獻 • Term browsing- to see the highlighted search terms • Root Expander • To retrieve words with variant endings, use the root expander (!). When you place an exclamation point (!) at the end of a root term, you retrieve all possible endings of that root. For example,obey! retrieves obey, obeys, obeyed and obeying.

WESTLAW檢索 & 瀏覽功能Accessing Databases Using the Westlaw Directory 使用Directory檢索資料庫 • To view a list of all databases, click Directoryon the Toolbar • To access a know database, type it identifier in the Search these Databases box in the left frame • To search for databases on Westlaw, type all or part of a database name or a description of the database in the Search these Databases box in the left frame. This acts as a database finding tool • The green “I” gives you detailed information about that database including beginning of coverage

Direct history of a case is added with one to four hours of receipt of the opinion at West • Unique graphical elements such as status flags, depth of treatment stars, and quotation marks enable you to quickly identify and evaluate KeyCite information
