  8. Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 • Get in groups from yesterday • Finish reading chapter and turn in quiz questions. Turn in only one copy per group. • Take pictures – • Read My Sister Sends Me an Email and Thanksgiving on your own.

  9. Thursday, October 8th, 2009 • Bell Ringer • Take group-made quizzes from yesterday • Read “Hunger Pains” aloud in class • Answer pre-reading and reflection questions. • Post your response to one reflection question on the blog

Thursday, October 8th, 2009 PRE-READING QUESTIONS • What are some of the things that people do to try and fit in with the people around them? • Does beauty, intelligence and popularity ensure that you are happy? • What do people who date have in common? • Are dreams sometimes limited by your race/class/age/sex? How?

  11. Thursday, October 8th, 2009 REFLECTION QUESTIONS • Does Penelope really like Arnold or is she just using him? And if she is just using him…what for? • Why do you think Penelope has those big dreams? • This is written in modern times...so why is Penelope’s Dad so racist? Are interracial couples accepted in our society? Why would they not be accepted. • Do teenagers often times do things only because it will upset their parents? Why does this happen…or is it just a big misunderstanding?
