  2. We had a great time at the Fire Safety Village last Friday. We learned many ways to keep ourselves safe. Don’t forget to bring in your fire safety homework.

  6. Reading This week we will begin reading a collection of fables. We will focus on various grammar skills such as punctuation, plural possessive nouns, and quotation marks. Vocabulary test will be given on Friday.

  7. Spelling Our spelling focus this week will be on short i (CVC) and long i (CVCe, VCC-igh, CV-y).   8. We will be finishing our unit on place value to the thousands place this week and begin working on making change to $5.00. Don’t forget to continue practicing for the Math Megaminds challenge. We will take our subtraction facts test again this Wednesday.

  9. / Social Studies We will continue our study of the moon this week. We will learn the different phases of the moon, how long it takes for the moon to orbit the Earth, and the size of the moon. In Social Studies we will begin learning about Jackie Robinson.

  10. Reminders • Target for 2nd grade will now be on Thursdaysand no longer on Wednesdays. • The Tellus Museum field trip has been rescheduled for April. • Weather Make-up Date March 18, 2011 (Previously Teacher Work Day)
