  1. Persecution Project

  2. Persecution: hostility and ill-treatment, esp. because of race or political or religious • WWII, Nazi Persecution • Gender Persecution • Religious Persecution • Student Persecution • Social/Public Persecution

  3. Apartheid – South Africa • Adopted by the successful Afrikaner National Party as a slogan in the 1948 election, apartheid extended and institutionalized existing racial segregation. Despite rioting and terrorism at home and isolation abroad from the 1960s onward, the white regime maintained the apartheid system with only minor relaxation until February 1991.

  5. Project Details • Your work will be selected to be presented in the foyer of the GHS auditorium for the duration of The Diary of Anne Frankproduction. • Art work MUST be completed on/by Friday, April 11th. • The more research and meaning you spend with persecution, the more developed and sophisticated the artwork. • Strive to work in symbols and abstraction, do not simply define things for the viewer.

  6. Requirements • You must complete at least 1 piece of artwork within the persecution theme. I think a series or multiple images will work better. • Must use predominantly black and white values – gives a more serious context. • Size is up to you, but the scale is important with sending messages to your audience… Bigger can be more impactful, smaller can be personal and intimate… • Project DUE: April 11th
