  2. How to curate ADA standards for barrier courses| Architect Forum In the recent decade, online learning has become the most convenient way of learning for working professionals as well as for the students who are involved in a full-time or part-time job. The course curator and the subject matter expert often unaware of taking some strategies to adapt their courses to meet the ADA compliances. During the process of online course design, the academic platforms should take an approach to compliance with the Americans with the Disabilities Act.

  3. Now, what is ADA Compliances in Online Education? • The term “Accessible” highlights the aspect of any person with a disability is bestowed with the opportunity to get the same information, can engage with similar interactions, and can independently avail of the same services which a learner without disability has in an equally integrated manner. • The online education course offerings including the PPT, PDF, tutorials, websites, videos, application software must be equally accessible to the students, staff, modulators, faculty with disabilities.

  4. Let’s discuss some strategies to modulate accessible courses that meet the ADA compliance • Use Hyperlink text to replace the naked URL Readability is one of the foremost criteria to maintain ADA standards for barrier courses. The instructors must not place the naked URL. Instead, they put anchor text and limits within a short sentence to increase readability. • Simple text design with least variation Sans Serif fonts like Arial and Helvetica or Calibri are recommended to use when designing informational material. Sans Serif is the easiest to read as this font does not feature additional strokes attached to the alphabets and punctuation marks.

  5. Careful use of images and Graphics Even images and graphics are bound to design according to the ADA regulations as they exemplify the content. They must be clearly visible, relevant to the content, easy to notice, and in high resolution. Animated or blinking are better to avoid. • Transcription for Audio and Video Items The audio and video items designed for ADA standards for barrier courses require clear sound, minimal background noise, and high resolutions clippings, and consistent volume. Both video and audio files require written transcription, also known as closed-captioning to meet ADA guidelines.
