  5. What are Google tools? • The implementation of Google tools in meaningful ways in your classrooms will increase efficiency, collaboration and engagement

  7. What is Google School? • Under our current PD program… • teachers are not instructed on the existence or use of these tools • PD is scheduled and designed by Central Office Staff • PD is poorly planned, poorly implemented and repetitive • only f2f PD is offered

  9. The Need • Current problems with HCPSS PD options: • teachers have little input re: topics • workload • lack of time to participate • low-quality sessions • session topics not useful or interesting • high demand for technology that will automate tasks

The Need • A successful Distance Education Professional Development (DEPD) program needs… • Anytime, anywhere access to training, resources and help • frequent feedback • trackable progress • communication between teachers, instructional design team (HHS Tech Team) , and central office staff • a DEPD program meets these needs

Planning • Instructional Design Team • Project Manager • Responsible for the advertising of the program and for student registration and payment • Instructional Designer • Responsible for Quality Control of the Program • Contact person for any technological issues • Four Subject Matter Experts • Specialists in each of the four Google applications for student reference • One Instructor • Student-centered, interactive assignments, one group project per module (artifact)

What would the DEPD students do? • Students would work through the Google tutorial site • Upon completion of each tutorial, the students will be assessed by completing an artifact demonstrating their mastery of each applications • Stipend and CPD credits awarded upon completion of program within the allotted time (1 semester)
