  3. Dangers of the outback • snakes and other toxic animals • dryness • sandy storms • wild dogs, especially for farmers • disorientation • floods • hot wild winds

  4. Roadtrains • very long trucks (more than 50 m) • they have 3-4 followers • Braking distance more than 1 km (0,62 miles)

  5. Flying Doctor Services • founded by John Flynn in 1928 • 23 stations • less than 2 hours to every part of the outback • They recognise injuries hundreds of miles away

  6. School of the Air • There are hundreds of miles between the pupil and the teacher. • The lesson is held by radio. • Once in a year the pupils come to one place and have an exam.

  7. Living in the outback • In the outback there live over 170,000 people. • They have to fly/drive many hours to go shopping.
