1. Memories in Tyme Teaching you paper crafting, one page at a tyme! What is a scrapbook….why would one want to create one…and how does a person start to scrapbook? Scrapbooking isn’t about spending the most money on the supplies needed to create elaborate albums for a person’s family. It’s about getting memories about a persons life down on paper, for future generations to see and even learn from. When a person scrapbooks for their family, they are not only doing good for themselves, but also for the entire family by documenting the times in your life that are soon to be forgotten. It’s about the moments in your life that deserve to be kept, and NOT forgotten!

2. A Scrapbook… Simply put, a scrapbook is a way to preserve one’s memories in an attractive format for people to see, feel and touch. It includes photos and memorabilia, added together with paper, embellishments, and the written word to form a book of one’s life. It is a way to keep it all together and organized in a way that makes sense to YOU – the creator…not anyone else!

Every album that is made ends up different just because you use different supplies on every album you make. Plus the album takes on a look of it’s own by the style and size of album a person selects to scrapbook and the pages they are putting in the album. Albums can be different sizes – depending on the look you want! Themes can be as varied as they come or the same theme for each album – again depending on YOU the creator.

4. Benefits to starting a scrapbook By starting a scrapbook, a person is able to tell their personal story in an attractive format. Supplies bought are on based on a person’s budget, not what everyone else is doing and spending.

Great way to boost a child’s self esteem by reading about what happened on the day they were born, or their first birthday…to see the love from friends and family alike. • Wonderful for therapy reasons, especially if a person does not have a lot of funds to go to one. I would add to search out ways to get therapy, and use this as well as speaking to someone who is licensed. • Not only is a finished scrapbook good for one’s family right now, it is also good for future generations to be able to look at what was created and learn something from. • Great way to help someone with memory problems, such as Alzheimer’s or Traumatic Brain injuries to have in one book.

6. Starting out ….. When you first start out, things are overwhelming because of all the supplies that are available and all the techniques a person can learn just to begin your first page.

Your albums can be made digitally – on the computer using software and digital page kits, or made with paper using supplies that are tangible as well as photos. Use a notebook to help keep track of page ideas, photos to use or take, title ideas, color schemes, or web sites/blogs that you like to go to.

The idea is to start to preserve your memories, not spend a lot of money buying supplies. The reasons to start are plenty, learning takes a bit of time figuring it all out , but the benefits far outweigh the time spent in learning in the first place! Get together with friends to learn new techniques or to spend a fun night cropping!
