MM base material procurement

MM base material procurement. A proposal how to proceed. The base material. PCBs for readout boards Need 2048 PCBs of different dimensions; proposal to group where possible two PCBs in one sheet. This reduces the number of sheets to process to 1600. These numbers do not include spares.

  1. MM base material procurement A proposal how to proceed P. Iengo/J. Wotschack

  2. The base material • PCBs for readout boards • Need 2048 PCBs of different dimensions; proposal to group where possible two PCBs in one sheet. This reduces the number of sheets to process to 1600. These numbers do not include spares. • Maximum dimensions for LM2 PCBs #2 (2154 mm) and #3 (2220 mm) are close to or exceed standard length of 2187 mm. Can we cut edges to stay within standard length? –> Givi (need a proposal drawing) • Cost envelope: O(100 kCHF) • PhotoimageablecoverlayPyralux PC1025 • Cost envelope O(50 kCHF) ? • PCBs for drift panels (drift electrode) • SM1: single PCB with dimensions (1200 x 2210 mm2); other modules follow readout PCB dimensions: ≤ 2187 x 600 mm2 • Cost envelope: O(150 kCHF) • How to order? • Centrally through CERN for all PCBs ? • INFN does its own order for SM1 PCBs? P. Iengo/J. Wotschack

  3. Delivery of base material • Options for PCBs • Buy now and get it delivered to CERN asap; test and store at CERN, and then dispatch to production sites • Buy now and specify delivery directly to production sites (if possible, added tax issue) • Coverlay • Has short shelf time • Need to specify delivery ‘just in time’ P. Iengo/J. Wotschack

  4. Next steps • PCBs • Departemental Purchasing Request for PCBs to be submitted (Paolo + Rui) • One or two ? • Coverlay • No need for DPR (volume below 50 kCHF P. Iengo/J. Wotschack
