  1. Painting for a Purpose is a local all volunteer-run group celebrating the power of art to bring people together and the power of young people to change their schools and communities

  2. Creating a strong community of painters to share the camaraderie and fun of painting together and to have their painting serve a greater purpose

  3. Encouraging the civic engagement of young people by supporting them in putting their creative ideas into action

  4. For the past four years, PFP has brought people together to paint whimsical furniture PFP painting studio located at REED school & donated space by Portland Public Schools

  5. PFP Annual Auction – Live & Silent Is a collaboration of 50 local artists, Portland art students and PFP members

  6. Past Auctions Stools Chairs Lobster Boats

  8. 2014 Auction will be held on November 13th at Dimillo’sResturant Featuring a wide assortment of CLOCKS!

  9. Proceeds are used to fund a youth grant process -Portland students can apply to fund projects that make a difference in their community.

  10. What is Youth Led Service Learning??? Youth “identify” a need/problem in the community

  11. “Research” the problem to gain an understanding and an appreciation of the issue “Develop a plan” to address the problem “Create a budget” for the project

  12. Students fill out our grant form and submit to PFP

  13. Each project requires an adult ally to offer guidance and support to students

  20. Students in grades 4-12 are eligible for the grants In the past 4 years, we have given out 25 grants totaling over $13,000!!
