  28. D135/D136/D137/D138 SPECIFICATIONS

  29. Print Speed vs Paper Weight • Printing is slower for heavier paper. • The Pro models are faster at the higher paper weights than the Office models. • However, the C751EX (Taurus) prints faster at the higher paper weights than the D137/D138 (Pro). Speed Paper Weight Speed Paper Weight

  30. 32. TCRU/ORU Set A

  33. TCRU/ORU Set B • In the D137/D138 Pro version, the OPC drum is not included in the TCRU/ORU kit because: • Longer yield (1,200K) vs. APV of 20K and PM interval of 399K • Due to the design of the drum unit, no user handle is supported.

  34. D135/D136/D137/D138 New and Improved Technology

  35. New Chemical TonerOverview • This new toner allows for the following improvements: • Improved color reproduction • Lower toner pile height • Energy saving due to low melting point

  36. New Chemical TonerImproved Color Reproduction D135 series • The color gamut for the D135 series is about 10% larger than previous models of this type. Previous Models

  37. New Chemical TonerEnergy Saving • The melting point of this toner is about 20 degrees lower than for the C901 and C751EX.

  38. VCSEL Laser TechnologyOverview • The C751EX (Taurus) uses the VCSEL system also. • The difference is the C751EX series has one VCSEL unit for each color (4 total) and the D135 series only has two VCSEL units. • One VCSEL unit handles K and C, and the other handles Y and M. • Therefore, the D135 series can achieve the same image quality as the C751EX series, but at a lower cost.

  39. Improved Process ControlDEMS • One of the causes for banding is variations in the distance between the drum and the development roller. • When the gap between development roller and OPC drum changes, inconsistencies in color will occur due to minute changes in the amount of toner adhering to the latent image. • D137/D138 (Pro) uses DEMS in order to adjust the amount of toner transferred to the latent image. • DEMS: Development Electric-field Modulation System • During DEMS, the ID sensor above the ITB monitors variations in density. The development bias and charge voltage are adjusted based on the ID sensor readings. • During evaluation, DEMS was observed to reduce density variation by about 40%.

  40. Changes to the ITBReduction of White Spots D135 Series • In the C751EX and V-C3, the paper transfer roller (PTR) has a resistive layer on the surface. In the D135 Series (Pro and Office), this layer has been moved to the ITB. • This reduces current leaks, which in turn, reduces white spots on copies. C751EX/V-C3 ITB Toner High resistance layer PTR PTR

  41. Support for Textured MediaAC Transfer Current ITB Indentation in the Paper • In the D137/D138 (Pro), AC is used for the transfer current. This helps transfers more toner to textured media and ensures that it adheres better to this type of media. • AC pulls part of the toner to the paper. • Then, when the polarity reverses, the toner moves back. However, when this toner contacts the toner that still remains on the belt, it affects how strongly it is adhered to the belt. • Then, when the polarity reverses again, more toner is transferred to the paper than the first time.

  42. Support for Textured MediaElastic Fusing Belt • In the D137/D138 (Pro), the fusing belt has a thicker elastic layer to reach the toner on indented regions of textured media. Fusing Roller Current Fusing Belt New Elastic Fusing Belt Base Material Fusing Belt Base Material Supports a thicker elastic layer Elastic Layer Elastic Layer Surface Layer Pressure Toner Pressure Roller Textured Media Textured Media

  43. Fewer Paper Jams • The reverse feed path has fewer bends as compared to the D081/D082 (V-C3). Jams should be reduced by 25% because of this. Heating Roller Heating Roller Hot Roller Hot Roller Reverse Point Reverse Point D135 Series D081/D082

  44. Easy Jam Removal (1) • The main print engine is built into one drawer. • To remove a jam from inside the machine, pull out the drawer.

  45. Easy Jam Removal (2) • LEDs on the outer covers of the drawers show which drawer to open to remove a jam. • Then, inside the drawer, LEDs at the various jam removal locations show the users how to remove the jammed paper. • The LCD also shows animations on how to remove the jammed paper.

  46. D135/D136/D137/D138 New and Improved FEATURES

  47. Java VM Feature • Java VM was provided as an option on an SD card previously, but from models such as D135 series, this function is mounted on the controller board (NAND flash memory) as standard.

  48. Embedded OCR (Searchable PDF) Copy & Paste Search Scanning • This optional function lets users add transparent text information on scanned documents. • “Searchable PDFs” are composed of two layers; Image-Layer and Text Layer. • User can search specific words by using the electronic search functions. • This function also allows Copy & Paste functions like other Office documents. • Language support: • 1.English 2.German 3.French 4.Italian 5.Spanish 6.Dutch 7.Portuguese 8.Polish 9.Swedish 10.Finnish 11.Hungarian 12.Norwegian 13.Danish 14.Japanese • Requires the OCR option (this is a new type of option).

  49. Client a Client b Client c Distributed Scan Management (DSM) Support Active Directory User A Windows Server 2008R2 Windows Authentication Format :200 dpi Color To: User C Format :200 dpi Color Scanning Management Server • DSM is supported as a standard function of WindowsServer2008R2 or later. DSM combines user data and scanning conditions in Windows Active Directory. It allows users to scan documents without having to set detailed scan settings. An administrator can control scan settings and destinations. • A user who already has WindowsServer2008R2 or later does not have to purchase an additional server for scanning management. An IT manager sets scan settings and destinations for users in advance. The preset scan settings will be automatically set when the user chooses a destination.

  50. SMC via @Remote 2 xx company. Ltd Pull SMC data via @Remote 3 Visit with appropriate parts 1 Service Call • SMC data can be retrieved through @Remote. Service reps don’t have to visit the customer to get SMC data. • Before service reps visit the user, they will be able to check the machine’s status. This allows them to analyze the issue and prepare the required parts before visiting the customer’s office.
