  1. WECC VGC Planning Guide Work Status Dr. Bharat Vyakaranam (On behalf of Dr. Yuri V. Markov) Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (E-mail: BharatGNVSR.Vyakaranam@pnnl.gov) WECC VGS Meeting Salt Lake City, Utah June 14, 2012

  2. 2 Current Status Overview • The Guide has been distributed for a review among several VGS members (Response is weak. We need more reviews). • Permissions for reused material have been obtained for all figures/citations that required them • Along with the overall positivefeedback, the main critical comments are • The size of the Guide is too big - reductions suggested • Some parts of the Guide are too academic • We take these comments seriously • Working on  deductions in the main body  by moving some materials to Appendices (50% complete) • We will have Vol. 1 for the main materials and Vol. 2 for appendices • Several reviews were done by PNNL’s engineers

  3. 3 Current Status Overview • The revision will be completed in 2-3 weeks. • We will need a technical writer review • Should it be a reviewer from WECC or PNNL • Should we use WECC template? Can we get one? • We need a capacity value section (Matt?) and a CREZ section (Need materials from ERCOT) • We have created a SharePoint site (2010). This will let us work on documentation simultaneously and resolve any conflicts from simultaneous changes • Should we rename the Guide? E.g. call it a White Paper? The Guide sounds like a prescription document which is confusing for some reviewers.
