  2. Overview • What is Family Connection? • How do I access it? • How do you register? • What can I do with it? • How does it help career and college planning?

  3. What is it? • Web-based resource that supports course, career, and college planning • Specific to our school • Secure program – information is not accessible from the web • Widely used by high schools and colleges to facilitate electronic submission of transcripts & recommendation letters

  4. How is it accessed? • Family Connection is on the Web • http://connection.naviance.com/wmtps • Link in the Guidance section on the WMHS website. Link also under the Parents tab. • Each student has their own account • Each parent has an account • Each person must have THEIR OWN email address

  5. How do you register? • Each parent and student receives a code • Use code to create a personal account • Codes are random and alphanumeric for security reasons • Codes can be used only once • On your first visit, enter the code in the New User box, then follow on-screen instructions • On subsequent visits, sign in using the Returning User box – your email is your user name and you create your own password • Password can be reset if forgotten

What can it do? • Assist and outline college planning • Surveys to help assess personality factors, career match, college match • Compare colleges • Compare self to college criteria based on other applicants from previous years at WMHS. Includes chart and scattergrams. • Track application deadlines, materials sent, teacher recs • Create a student resume • Show upcoming college visits • Information on open houses, scholarships, summer programs, SAT & ACT test dates
