The Importance of Numbers in Education: Enhancing Learning with TiNspire

Mark Bills, an MYP candidate school, focuses on the significance of numbers through the unit question, "Why do numbers matter?" By integrating TiNspire as a tool, students can manipulate data, find solutions, and receive immediate feedback. This method enhances learning and helps students understand the relevance of numbers in their lives. To reinforce this concept, homework is assigned to parents to guide discussions about the importance of numbers in education. Engaging both students and parents, the program aims to equip students to leave their mark on the world.

  1. Why do numbers matter? Mark Bills, as an MYP candidate school seeking authorization, is building our units around a significant concept with a unit question. These must relate to the world we are preparing them to improve so they can make their mark. TiNspire is a tool our students are using to answer their unit question. It gives them the capability to manipulate numbers, discover and then get immediate teacher feedback. As Miss Braker explains, “it is a layering tool to enhance District 150 curriculum.” Homework for the parents revolved around the question ‘Why do numbers matter?’ so their parents could guide them through the relevance of what students are being taught. Do you know why numbers matter?
