  5. 1945 Mussolini and his mistress are executed Hitler and Eva Braun commit suicide May 7th – Germany signs unconditional surrender Berlin falls to Soviet forces May 8th – V-E Day

  6. Nagasaki – Aug. 9th 1945 Truman signs the order to drop atomic bombs on: Hiroshima – Aug.6th

  7. Sept. 2nd – Formal Japanese surrender. World War II officially ends 1945 Japan announces its surrender August 15th - V-J Day
