  2. If you are looking to get healthy or even lose somewieght, it might help you to learn a great deal about water. Water is the most important thing to all living creatures. In fact, out of all of the substances on the earth, water is the one thing that no living creature can live without! Our human bodies are composed of about 50-80% water, depending on where in the body you are talking about. Let me show you what I mean. As you can see in this picture, the water concentration varies throughout the body. The real question you probably should ask yourself, first is, am I getting enough water? This is a very important question, and I am sure many times you have heard that you should be drinking 6-8 glasses of water per day, or in other words, about 48-64 ounces per day, but really, how often do you drink that much water? And is that even a very good guideline to go by? Let me try to clear this up for you. There is a really simiple guideline to follow to know whether you are drinking the right amount of water. Take the number of pounds you are, divide that in half, and that is the number of ounces you should be drinking of pure water every day. (Note: this does NOT include other beverages such as coffee, juices, tea, etc. as many of these will actually dehydrate you, subtracting from the water in your body.) So, let’s give a simple example. Let’s say you weigh 100 pounds. Small I know, but I am going for an easy round number here. 100 / 2 = 50. Therefore you should be only drinking 50 ounces per day. If you weight 200 pounds, you should be drinking 100 ounces per day. Sounds like a lot, but the more you wiegh, the harder your body has to pump out all those toxins from your body. Drinking more water for those who are overwieght will also help you flush out the toxins held in your fat cells, allowing your body to free up the fat cells for what they were intended to be used for, namely ENERGY!   4. WHAT KIND OF WATER SHOULD YOU BE DRINKING? First and foremost, I would not drink tap water unless you filter it with some kind of filtration device, like a Brita filter for the faucet, or any brand you feel comfortable with. Bottled water is also somewhat risky. You need to make sure that the bottled water is not taken from tap water as it often times is these days, and make sure you know what the source is that they say they use on the label before you buy it. Why is this important? Because tap water often times has very bad chemicals in it and almost always tests on the pH scale as acidic. Here are a list of 10 toxins which are probably in your tap water: 1. Fluoride 2. Chlorine 3. Lead 4. Mercury 5. PCB’s, or Polyfluorinated Biphenals 6. Arsenic 7. Perchlorate 8. Dioxins 9. DDT 10.   5. If your body is too acidic, your blood cells literally have a difficult time moving through the body.   6. Let me go back in time for a minute to explain what I am talking about. A while back, scientist and doctors began visiting a island off of Japan called Okinawa, perhaps you have heard of it.
