  4. Requirements of the Japanese Manga style • Two page view • Vertical text layout • Right to left reading direction

  5. Manga distribution service in Germany • The service has launched in mid / 2009 • Focusing on Self publishing • The text is written in German with horizontal layout. • The reading direction is both L2R and R2L. • But it has a fundamental issue.

Manga in German • German Manga-Customer would want the Manga to start at “the back” because this is the difference to a classic european “Comic”. • If there is an Attribute in the ePub Format for which we can switch the Sony Reader to Right-To-Left Reading or if you could tell us how Right-To-Left reading is realized we are happy to change this process.

  7. Globalization and Localization • A local function/appearance/culture will be internationalized. • The internationalized stuff will produce another localized stuff. • To summarize all localized stuffs and translate it to one rule, that is ‘globalization’.

Does the reading direction depend on Text Layout?
