UC Irvine Parking Lot Lighting retrofit

DESCRIPTION

The University of California, Irvine (UCI) successfully implemented the Intelli-Lux lighting system in its parking lots, retrofitting 584 lights across 37 parking areas, totaling 3,000,000 square feet. By replacing existing 250W High Pressure Sodium lights with 75W LED bi-level lights and advanced daylighting controls, UCI anticipates annual energy savings of 663,141 kWh—an impressive 86% reduction. This project, initiated in 2009, emphasizes smart and adaptive communication solutions for effective parking lot and roadway lighting management.
