Anatomy/Autopsy Cadaver Report For Anatomy, Embryology and Imaging Course 2005 Andrew F. Payer, Ph.D. Florida State University, College of Medicine
Students work as a team and record findings on their cadaver. • Students are given age, sex and last occupation (if known) • They are not given cause of death • Findings include skin markings, structural variations, surgery, prostheses and pathology. • Must confirm all findings using resources such as the virtual library, pathologists and texts.
Student groups provide weekly documentation of findings. • At the end of the course each group presents their patient, their findings and estimated cause of death to rest of class, clinical anatomist, pathologist and other clinical faculty. • They are given cause of death on death certificate at end of presentation.
Students given orientation to ultrasound unit. • A group is assigned to perform ultrasound imaging on each other related to the assigned body region. • Group researches ultrasonography of the region they are assigned • Group presents images to class during the weekly radiology session.
Weekly clinical cases on the anatomy topics of the previous week. • Groups of 9 students, one teaching assistant and one faculty. • Orient the faculty prior to case about content and potential resources students may use. • Weekly whole class wrap up of case and resources used by students.
