  3. Course Content The Course content is divided into separate Units dealing with the physical and human environments, and the interactions which take place between them. A range of geographical skills are included within the Unit Geography: Physical Environments and the Geography: Human Environment Unit. The techniques are taught through actual fieldwork or simulated fieldwork in the classroom. Opportunities are provided for candidates to make use of a range of maps, including OS maps at a variety of scales. Wallace Hall Academy

NABs • Unit assessment • Three unit assessments consist of 45 minute holistic assessments involving restricted responses, produced under supervised conditions and addressing all the Outcomes and Performance Criteria. • Physical Environments • Human Environments • Interaction – Development and health & • Environmental hazards Wallace Hall Academy

  10. Final Exam This section will include the use of an Ordnance Survey map of the British Isles at either 1:25000 or 1:50000 scale. Candidates answer two compulsory questions: Question 1 based on the topics in the Unit Geography: Physical Environment. Question 2 based on the topics in the Unit Geography: Human Environments. Each question will be out of 25 marks. Wallace Hall Academy

  11. Final Exam Section B: Candidates answer two questions from a choice of five: There is one question on each of the topics in the Geography: Environmental Interactions Unit. Question 3 – Rural land degradation. Question 4 – River basin management. Question 5 – European environmental inequalities. Question 6 – Development and health. Question 7 – Environmental hazards. Each question will be out of 15 marks. The assessment lasts 2 hours and is out of 80 marks. Wallace Hall Academy

Homework and Planners • Homework is set each week. • Students be expected to record homework in their planners. • Students should be revising the topics previously covered on a regular basis – draw mind maps, write mnemonics, labelled diagrams, spider diagrams or rewrite notes. • Homework will consist of written exercises, research tasks, past exam questions and revision for class tests.   13. Homework and Planners • 5. Students will be expected to record their progress in the Geography section of their planners. • 6. Past exam questions and model answers on all units covered are available on http://geomotoint2.wikispaces.com/ and the class are expected to access these and prepare for NABs and prelims using them. • 7. Revision Techniques Students will be expected to engage fully with open ended tasks, for example writing up their report on the Yorkshire Dales trip or gathering notes on features of Glacial Erosion. Reference to experiences and features seen during Fieldtrips and general research will boost exam marks. Wallace Hall Academy

Support for students/parents • Talk about Homework each week and find a routine that allows for all reasonable tasks to be completed. • Agreeing a Revision Plan and writing a Revision Timetable can be helpful. • Practice the exam questions for the topics you have covered on the websites mentioned.   17. Support for students/parents • Prepare for the revision tests that will be sat in class each week. • Share your results – are things going well?
