  2. Early Life • Amelia was born in Kansas, U.S.A in 1897 • Amelia’s family moved from place to place • Amelia’s dad worked for the railway

  3. First Flight • Amelia moved to Los Angeles where she goes on her first flight • She paid ten dollars for a ten-minute joyride over the city • In 1920 she started flying lessons

  4. Amelia’s Adventures • When she was twenty she moved to Toronto to become a nurse • In 1928 Amelia was the first woman to fly as a passenger non-stop across the Atlantic ocean

  5. Solo Flying • In 1932, Amelia flies solo across the Atlantic ocean • She is now a true celebrity • In 1935, she makes the first solo flight across the Pacific ocean

  6. Amelia goes Missing • Amelia crashed the first time she tried to fly around the world • In 1937 Amelia tried again • Then sadly she died and they never found Amelia and the plane again
