  1. Welcome To Mrs. DeLaPortilla’s Kindergarten Class!

  2. I’m glad you’re here! • Thank you so much for coming this evening! I’m excited about the new year and the new friends I have to share it with. • We have many fun activities and events lined up for the school year… some are kindergarten only (which is even cooler)! • I’m always here to answer questions so don’t be afraid to ask. Notes and emails are best and I will respond as soon as I can. I am limited with the information I can discuss via email though.

  3. About the teacher • This will be my 10th year teaching kindergarten. • I have 2 kids, 2 dogs, 1 guinea pig and some fish. • I like to read, go to the movies, listen to music, work in my garden, run/work out, travel and just be with my family.

  4. Contact Me • My conference/planning period is daily from 1:15-2:00 pm. • I will typically send home the Peek of the Week on Friday or Monday. • My email is delaportillad@pearlandisd.org • The school phone number is 832-736-6000 • http://www.pearlandisd.org/webpages/ddelaportilla/

  5. School Info. • The school's discipline policy, including procedures regarding absence and tardiness, as well as dress code requirements are on-line at www.pearlandisd.org • Report cards will be handwritten in kindergarten and we are now on a 9 week grading cycle. Progress reports will go out somewhere in the middle but kinder will not send out the first one due to necessary testing time.

  8. Homework • Homework is weekly and should be returned on Friday. I review that the work was done and ready it for the following week. Homework will begin next week and an information sheet is included. Some family projects will go home from time to time. Next is a Family page!

  9. Behaviors • Please be sure the students are here between 7:45 – 8:00 am. Tardiness truly puts them behind from the beginning of the day. • Please discuss behaviors warranting a clip move. It is very important to the classroom environment that the students are able to follow our rules and control their behaviors. • 5 “Caught Being Goods” = a trip to the treasure chest. 

  10. Field Trips • We are working on our kindergarten zoo field trip information currently. • If you are interested in helping by being a chaperone you will need to complete a back ground check. Info on this is on the green paper. You’ll need a minimum of three days for it to clear and it must be done annually.

  11. Miscellaneous
