Les Demoiselles d’Avignon One of the most important pieces of early Cubism. Picasso created this painting of five prostitutes from Barcelona in the summer of 1907. At the time of its first exhibition, critics were shocked by the theme of the painting and deemed it immoral.
“Guernica” Painted in response to the bombing of Guernica, Spain during the Spanish Civil War. Used cubism to relay the chaos and brutality of the raid.
Portraits Picasso tended to paint portraits based on his many lovers. Marie-Therese Jaqueline Olga Francoise
African Inspired Along with inspiring the faces in “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon”, African masks also appear in other works.
Sculpture Mainly in later period.
