  3. Waste Minimisation Love Food Hate Waste North East • Partners include: • Durham County Council • Newcastle City Council • North Tyneside Council • Northumberland County Council • WRAP • WANE

  4. Waste Minimisation Love Food Hate Waste North East • Action plan developed. • The campaign will be co-ordinated by WANE and delivered by all partners • Central theme of the campaign is a Left over recipe competition and the production of a North East Cookbook

  5. Education and working with Schools Schools Against Waste • RIEP funded project in partnership with Newcastle City Council and Waste Aware North East. • Aimed at changing the behaviour of school children of all ages in the North East with regards to waste. • Will be focused around the development of an online education resource available free of charge to all schools in the North East. • If you would like to input your thoughts in to the project please contact myself or Ben Grant ben.grant@northeastcouncils.gov.uk

Community Engagement Community Recycling Network North East • WANE has gained funding to establish a CRNNE through the Third Sector Capacity Fund. • The funding will be used to employ a full time Co-ordinator and develop a network. • RENEW are contributing match funding to the project to produce a 3-year business plan, map the community waste sector and develop projects that the Co-ordinator will deliver.

  7. Business Waste and Packaging Business Waste • WANE are currently developing a new work stream that will focus on reducing the waste produced by the regions businesses. • We would welcome your ideas and thoughts on our approach.

  8. Waste Aware North East Newsletter Newsletter is sent bimonthly. Please send details of stories, events or campaigns to jo@daxi.co.uk Aims to: Share best practice Increase partnership working Promote partner events and initiatives Provide a platform for news stories concerning the waste sector and waste awareness To register for the newsletter visit www.wasteawarenortheast.org.uk
