  2. Hunter-Gatherer Societies • People gather their own food, hunt, and are nomadic • They don’t plant crops • There is no attempt to control nature • Population density is low

  3. Agricultural Society • They plant crops and raise animals for food • People stopped roaming • Work was divided up between members of the society

  4. Agricultural Society continued • Invention of the plow enabled people to plant more land and grow more food • Population grew • Fewer people had to farm • Formed cities and began crafts and manufacturing goods • Trade networks developed and importing and exporting started

  5. Agricultural Society continued • Early societies harmed the land, leading to desertification • Logging, grazing, poor farming methods • Loss of vegetation changed patterns of rainfall

  6. Industrial Society • Began in the late 1700’s when machinery was invented • Advancements in food production occurred • Plants were bred to increase crop yield • Advances in medicine

  7. Industrial Society continued • Population started to grow quickly • Led to environmental damages-pollution
