Progress Update on TMB Fuses Installation and Muon CLCT Pattern Improvements

A comprehensive overview of recent developments in the TMB fuses installation and muon CLCT patterns. Approximately 80 of the 500 gold-plated TMB fuses were successfully installed by the crew. The PNPI team has begun unpacking crates from Fermilab as part of the ME4/2 upgrade. Current discussions focus on improving the CLCT pattern definitions and their application in high-Pt tracks. Detailed analyses of performance notes and strategies are presented to optimize muon tracking and ensure accuracy across various regions in the detector.

  1. Update, various items ~80 of the 500 gold-plated TMB fuses were installed by Misha First look - all TMBs were within spec. ME4/2 upgrade: PNPI crew now here, work starts on unpacking crates from Fermilab, etc. CERN panel order for 1 endcap went out today Muon performance note Starting to look at LCT section (w/Chaouki) Should add local trigger description Should track down old testbeam performance note Do we need to add something for CSCTF? No L1 trigger performance note for 2010 planned CLCT pattern use in CSCTF: Not currently used to sharpen Pt, but could be A look at patterns used presented Monday by Anna K See following 2 slides from “Efficiency Studies”, http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=124140

  2. CLCT Pattern for ME1 station Patterns have been renumbered CLCT pattern definition: 4 -4 3 -3 2 -2 1 -1 0 On the next slides distribution of CLCT patterns are presented in according to numbers in red boxes. • CLCT pattern for ME1 is calculated with sign • 2 corrections is done: • - If muon charge = -1 then pattern = -pattern • It was done to have the same deviation for μ + and μ- • If Endcap minus then pattern = -pattern • It was done because direction of pattern is not corrected on endcaps 2

  3. CLCT Pattern for ME1 station: eta = 1.3-2.1 FYI, she “flips” patterns for –q tracks Strange peak at -1, maybe due to bad lct quality, should be understood - High PT tracks have CLCT pattern = -1, 0 and 1 - Pattern information form ME1 station maybe could PT assignment at almost in all golden region: 1.3 < η < 2.1 3

  4. Improve CLCT patterns? From Anna: sample of events with high-quality muons w/known Pt, eta, phi; RAW data From Yunfeng, for example? Using CMSSW need to extract LCT and raw hits information into a ROOT ntuple Need strategy to improve the patterns based on the data Some initial thoughts in following 2 slides

  5. Strategy to improve CLCT patterns  As long as overall envelope remains wide, cannot do worse (currently not using pattern at all for Pt lookup)  Cannot increase the # of patterns, so must redistribute them: Want to be able to cut on central patterns for high-Pt muons With low-Pt muons in other patterns but not lost (e.g. for low-Pt muon triggers like muon+X or di-muon)

  6. Tightening the best CLCT patterns Now seems “obvious” that +-1, 0 patterns too loose - see below:

  7. Progress on analyses Z’ mu mu and ee almost ready to submit for pub. (has been for 3 weeks…) Heavy ion Z mu mu may need another CWR (argh) ARC committee looking carefully at documentation after ATLAS beat us to publication SUSY same-sign dilepton search ARC has doubts (argh) W’ mu nu approved by ARC for CWR yesterday
