TAFE NSW Training and Education Support

The sHub is an online platform supporting the business of TAFE NSW Institutes and corporate offices by:

  • Facilitating access to quality resources for teaching and learning, teaching skills development, and industry skills for sustainability.
  • Sharing sustainability news and initiatives, and rounding up capability, products and services to leverage strengths across TAFE
  • Identifying supports and opportunities for developing business and community partnerships for sustainability.

News and Roundups

The News forum exposes sustainability developments, successes and opportunities for all staff to see, not just those staff ‘in the know’.

Roundups is a birds-eye view of sustainability practices, products and services across TAFE, to help leverage good ideas and strengths.

Resources are organised by categories to: provide a context for sustainability in education and training; resource teaching, learning and delivery; and assist with developing teaching and industry knowledge and skills which are critical to learning for sustainability.

Teaching and Learning pages provide comprehensive resources for industry sectors, including case studies and issues for employers and workers.

Forums areincluded for all staff to contribute to, ask questions or share learning. Forums are planned to increase in order to support sustainability groups and conferences as needed. A twitter list has been created especially for the sHubwhich compiles Australian media sources for sustainability.

Doing business

Business tools and resources help equip Business Developers and their clients by identifying funding programs, sustainability units and qualifications, TAFE providers, and case studies showcasing TAFE working with enterprises.

Sustainable design

The sHub demonstrates principles which aim to reduce effort and time and increase responsiveness:

  • Built in Moodle 2.0, content has been developed rapidly, is easy and quick to update, and can be contributed by any staff without needing training or special software.
  • New content such as News and updates to web links can be immediately published, without delay or burdening ITD.
  • The sHub links to resources at internal and external sites where they already exist, and adds value by aggregating, filtering and mapping resources.
