  2. >about The sHub is an online platform supporting the business of TAFE NSW Institutes and corporate offices by: • Facilitating access to quality resources for teaching and learning, teaching skills development, and industry skills for sustainability. • Sharing sustainability news and initiatives, and rounding up capability, products and services to leverage strengths across TAFE • Identifying supports and opportunities for developing business and community partnerships for sustainability.

  3. >features News and Roundups The News forum exposes sustainability developments, successes and opportunities for all staff to see, not just those staff ‘in the know’. Roundups is a birds-eye view of sustainability practices, products and services across TAFE, to help leverage good ideas and strengths.

  4. >features Resources Resources are organised by categories to: provide a context for sustainability in education and training; resource teaching, learning and delivery; and assist with developing teaching and industry knowledge and skills which are critical to learning for sustainability.

  5. >features Resources Teaching and Learning pages provide comprehensive resources for industry sectors, including case studies and issues for employers and workers.

  6. >features Resources Forums areincluded for all staff to contribute to, ask questions or share learning. Forums are planned to increase in order to support sustainability groups and conferences as needed. A twitter list has been created especially for the sHubwhich compiles Australian media sources for sustainability.

  7. >features Doing business Business tools and resources help equip Business Developers and their clients by identifying funding programs, sustainability units and qualifications, TAFE providers, and case studies showcasing TAFE working with enterprises.

  8. >features Sustainable design The sHub demonstrates principles which aim to reduce effort and time and increase responsiveness: • Built in Moodle 2.0, content has been developed rapidly, is easy and quick to update, and can be contributed by any staff without needing training or special software. • New content such as News and updates to web links can be immediately published, without delay or burdening ITD. • The sHub links to resources at internal and external sites where they already exist, and adds value by aggregating, filtering and mapping resources.

  10. >future directions The sHub continuously invites participation and feedback from TAFE NSW teachers and support staff to: • Contribute news, resources and learning • Set up forums owned by teachers or staff groups • Implement the sHub within teacher inductions, sustainability trainer programs and everyday work • Help improve the content and service of the sHub.

  11. >how can you use the sHub? • Log in and register so you will receive News items by email and make a forum post. If you wish to unsubscribe to forums at any time there is a link in the email or you can unsubscribe at the forum page. • Personal learning and development about education for sustainability, eg resources and information under ‘Understanding sustainability’ and ‘Capability building’. • Find resources to support delivery of sustainability units or outcomes, or to integrate sustainable practices across all learning. See ‘Teaching and learning’ page > Industry sectors

  12. >login to the sHub Log in and register at the sHub to get the most out of the site. You will receive News items by email, and can post to forums. Click on ‘Login’ at the top right of the screen. Follow prompts to complete your profile then return to the sHub. Use your DET Portal IDto log in. Your user name is ‘firstname.surname’.
