  2. Facts about Flag Pole (History) • The earliest flag poles was constructed out of trees. The straightest tree available was cut down, until it was smooth as possible. It was then rubbed with several coats of animal fat and replanted into the earth with a flag attached to it. • In the late 19th century, steel flag poles replaced the wooden flag pole. The steel poles came from the poles which held up the trolley wires. • By 1854, a man invent a method to produce aluminum. It wasn’t until 1886 that two inventors – Paul Louis Toussaint Heroult and Charles Martin Hall incidentally came up with the electrolytic process. This is the process which is used today to manufacture aluminum.

  3. How does it work? • The wheel and the rope will be on the flag pole. It’s connected to the pole. • Put the wheel in the middle of the rope. • So there will be 2 sides of the ropes. From left and right. • One side of the rope will be connected to the flag. • While on the other side, pull the rope so that the flag can get up easier. The wheel will turn when the people pull the rope. The wheel could turn because of the gears have inside the wheel.

  4. Types of Simple Machines • Flag Pole has 2 kinds of simple machines. There are pulley and wheel & axle. The pulley is the main simple machines have in flag pole, but when we pull the rope, it needs the wheel to turn so the flag can get up.
