Methodological issues • Indicator comes from the women’s questionnaire • Is not a direct question on literacy since this overestimates • Respondents with primary education or less are given simple sentences to read • Important to provide sentences in local language – this is about literacy in any language, not the language of the questionnaire or the official language MICS4 Survey Design Workshop
