  1. APPC is the Association that represents the Portuguese Engineering, Architecture, Environment, Economics and Management Consultancy Sector WHAT IS APPC • Founded in 1975, it started as an Association that admitted both individuals and companies, but in 1995, upon its Statutes reviewing, membership became restricted to companies • The Board of Directors is elected for a period of 3 years and its members come from companies enrolled in APPC

INTERNATIONAL FEDERATIONS • APPC is a member and the country’s sole representative in the major federations of the Sector, both European and International, namely: • EFCA – European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations • FEACO – European Federation of Management Consulting Associations • FIDIC – International Federation of Consulting Engineers

OBJECTIVES OF APPC • The goals of APPC are: • - To unite, represent, express and defend the professional interests of the companies offering Engineering, Architecture, Environment and Economics and Management and related activities’ services • - To certify to third parties the ethical and technical principles that guide their affiliates, having for the purpose defined the requirements for joining the Association as well as a Code of Professional Conduct • - To promote technical and scientific progress, quality and efficiency in the services provided, for the benefit of the country, the clients and the society in general, respecting the necessary economic vigour of the Portuguese activities they represent

  4. THE MEMBERSHIP • Currently, APPC has about 160 member firms headquartered in mainland Portugal and in the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and Azores (islands), with a turnover that exceeds 400 million euros • The majority of the biggest Engineering consultancy companies are enrolled in APPC

  7. INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE • About 1/3 of the member firms of APPC have recently had some experience in foreign markets

  10. Stimulus of the Economy • Measures taken by Portuguese Government • Reinforcement and advance of planned public investments and PPP’s on Infrastructures (airport, high speed train, bridge, highways, renewable energies, water supply, education and health) • Alleviation and simplification of some procurement procedures, in order to speed-up implementation • Support to credit lines in order to guarantee financing to the economy, in particular SME’s • Lower corporate income tax for small companies, VAT reimbursement anticipation and tax breaks for investment
