Marriage Seminar Recap Session 1: 4 Foundational Laws of Marriage • You may love each other but if you violate the laws of marriage you set yourself up for failure • You have 100% chance of success in marriage if you do it God’s way! • #1: Law of priority – leave & cleave • sacrifice, time, energy, attitude • #2: Law of pursuit • Don’t take each other for granted

Marriage Seminar Recap Session 3: • The worst marriages are two masters in love • The greatest marriages are two servants in love • Foster “win-win” situations and environment • Men’s need = honor & respect • Wives, don’t be his mother; allow him to fail (make mistakes); men “become” in an atmosphere of honor • Women’s need = security • Husbands, be a servant leader; communicate your commitment to sacrifice; be sensitive you your wife’s needs; have open and honest communication (events & feelings! – tell her what she wants to know with a good attitude)

Marriage Seminar Recap Session 4: • In-Laws – Honor them, but maintain emotional separation from them • Children – Love them, but don’t let them come between you and your spouse; don’t follow them emotionally into their own marriage Session 5/6: • Deal with destructive behaviors = criticism, control & dominance, emotional check-out, cruelty & abuse, defensiveness • Don't be friends with individuals that do not take their marriage covenant serious

Parents as Shepherds • Theme for the month = The Lord is my Shepherd! • As a husband you are the shepherd (overseer) in your home • You need to understand the power of your words as a rod to direct - Psalm 23:4 • Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Text - Genesis 27:1-30, 33-35, 37-38, 41 • 1And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I. • 2And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death: • 3Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; • 4And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die.

And he said, I am. • 25And he said, Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine and he drank.

Text - Genesis 27:1-30, 33-35, 37-38, 41 • 27And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed(DIVINE FAVOR – GOOD AROMA WHEREVER YOU ARE / PEOPLE WILL LOVE YOUR PRESENCE) • 28Therefore God give thee (PROVISION) of the dew of heaven (CONTINOUS FRESHNESS EVEN WITHOUT RAIN), and the fatness of the earth (NOT LEANESS = SCARCITY/FEW/BARELY GETTING BY), and plenty of corn (ABUNDANCE OF FOOD) and wine (ABUNDANCE OF ANOINTING/GRACE = WINNING WITHOUT SWEAT): • 29Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee (LEADERSHIP/ABOVE NOT BENEATH): be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseththee (GOD’S VENGEANCE ON THOSE WISHING YOU EVIL/GOD FIGHTING YOUR BATTLES), and blessed be he that blesseththee (THOSE THAT WELCOME AND APPRECIATE YOU WILL NOTICE THEY ARE AUTOMATICALLY BLESSED).

Why is it important to bless your family? • Proverbs 18:21 - Deathandlife are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. • Death = Curse • Life = Blessing • They that love (understand and take advantage of its value ) • shall eat (be blessed) • with its fruit (produce/product) • Proverbs 18:7 -A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.   32. Why is it important to bless your family? Because there is creative power of in what we say • Genesis 1:3And Godsaid, Let there be light: and there was light.Genesis 1:9And Godsaid, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.Genesis 1:11And Godsaid, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

Why is it important to bless your family? • There is creative power in what we say • Because we are gods!Psalm 82:6I have said, Yearegods; and all of you are children of the most High • The child of a goat is a goat; the child of a lion is a lion; etc.) • We as children of the most High have the same creative power in our sayings • Let us use it to our benefit (Love It!) • Proverbs 18:21b…andthey that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Summary • As parents we have an opportunity to shape or influence the direction and destiny of our children through bestowing of parental blessings • We have the power through parental authority and the power of the tongue • Others might say the same thing over your children and it will not “stick”, but when you say it God honors your words! • Value blessing your family members continually!
