  3. We started by considering the different TYPES and ASPECTS of fitness There are 3 TYPES of fitness Each TYPE of fitness has a number of ASPECTS of fitness

  4. TYPES of fitness PHYSICAL SKILL RELATED MENTAL

  5. ASPECTS of fitness PHYSICAL – 4 S’s SKILL RELATED – ABC’s MENTAL - ions

  6. We then thought about what TYPES and ASPECTS of fitness were needed for an activity You then thought about what YOU needed SPECIFICALLY for YOUR ROLE in that activity

  7. QUESTION Describe the range of fitness required for an activity of your choice. What were the fitness demands for a role you played in an activity of your choice.

  8. We then thought about HOW you would GATHER INFORMATION on your fitness This is also called ASSESSING your fitness

  9. You can gather information about your fitness in 2 CONTEXTS IN CONTEXT (within the game) IN ISOLATION (outwith the game)

  10. Gathering information about your fitness in context This is called INITIAL DATA (GENERAL) It gives you THE BIG PICTURE It identifies STRENGTHS and WEAKNESSES

  11. We Gather INITIAL DATA by TIME RELATED MATCH ANALYSIS SHEET VIDEO CAMERA

  12. Gathering information about your fitness in ISOLATION This is called FOCUSSED DATA (SPECIFIC) It focusses on a specific weakness

  13. We Gather FOCUSSED DATA by STANDARDISED FITNESS TEST e.g. COOPER TEST, ILLINOIS AGILITY TEST

  14. QUESTION Describe how you gathered information about an aspect of fitness both within and outwith an activity of your choice. Explain why these methods were appropriate

  15. So, you know what fitness you need for an activity and you know how to assess your fitness You will now be able to IDENTIFY YOUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

  22. METHODS OF TRAINING OVERDISTANCE FARTLEK CONDITIONING INTERVALS WEIGHT TRAINING CIRCUIT PLYOMETRICS t

  23. QUESTION Describe a method of training you have used and explain why this method was appropriate.

  26. When you carry out a programme of work , you need to know if the programme is working on or not. You do this by carrying out the process of MONITORING and REVIEWING your programme.

  27. You will monitor and review your programme by Checking if you have met your targets Re-testing Keeping a Training Diary Getting Feedback from coaches Checking performance in game
