  3. The questions asked on Labor section for the Census are as follows: Did ‘person’ have any work in the past 7 days, either full time or part time? P19. Did ‘person’ have a job or business that he/she did not work in the past seven days? P20. Did “person” have a job or business that he/she did not work in the past seven days? P21. What type of work/activity does ‘person’ usually do? 1) work for pay (private) 2) work for pay (govt) 3) self employed without any employee as defined in “4” 4) employer in any family owned and operated farm/business (with one or more regular paid employees) 5) Volunteer work 6) unpaid work in a family business 7) producing goods (farm, fishing etc ) mainly for sale 8) producing goods (farm, fishing, etc) mainly for own consumption P22. How many hours did ‘person’ work in the past 7 days?

  4. P23. What was ‘person’s ‘ activity/ occupation during the past seven days? Eg: Coconut farmer, fisherman, filing clerk, handicraft maker, nurse. P24. What kind of business/industry did ‘person’ work in the past seven days? P25. Was ‘person’ available for work in the past seven days? 1) yes 2) No (go to P28) P26. Did ‘person’ look for work in the past seven days? P27. Why did ‘person’ not look for work in the past seven days? P28. Did ‘person’ earn income from “wages & salarie; net receipts from businesses/profession; commissions, tips, bonuses, allowances; interests, dividents, net rental, royalty, income from estates; social security, retirement, survivor and disabilitiy pensions; others” during the past 12 months?

  5. Questions used for the Labor Force Survey: LF1. What was “person’s” main activity during last week? * Paid employment; un-paid employment; not in labour force* LF2. Type of activity (occupation)? LF3. What industry did “person” work in? LF4. How many hours did “person” work in this main activity last week? LF5. Would “person” be willing and available to work more hours in this main activity? *If YES, record number and go to LF6* *If NO, record “00” and go to LF6* LF6. In addition to the main activity, did person do anyother activity (even for just 1 hour? *If YES, insert LF1 code and go to LF7* *If NO, record 00 and skip to LF11* LF 7 Type of activity (occupation) LF8 What industry did “person” work in? LF9 How many hours did person work in this other (secondary) activity last week? LF10 Would “person” be willing and available to work more hours in this other (secondary) activity? *if YES, record number of hours and go to LF11* *if NO, record 00 ad go to LF11* LF11 Did person actively look for work? (for people who answered LF1 with categories under UNPAID EMPLOYMENT and NOT IN LABOR FORCE) LF11 Did person actively look for other work/another job? (for people who answered LF1 under category PAID EMPLOYMENT)

  9. It is shown in the Census results that out of the 12,647 employed population, 65% were males whereas 35% were females. This is compared to 50% males/50% females employed population in the LFS results.
