Expected milestones 2008… • Progressing in CB gap identification for all SBA’s (using existing data + complements… ) • CB Best Practices Register <- provider-based Wiki • Ref. www.ieee-earth.org : Ruth Duerr • CB Needs inventory <- end user-based • GEO CB Services activated through GEO Portal, GEONETCast system,… • GEOSS CB promotion (via int’l conferences, worskhops..)

  5. Working methods • Initiate (funded) project in regions e.g. calls EU FP7, ESA, e.g. (Share-Earth, Black Sea proposal, etc.) • Or other data gathering methods: wiki,..? • Coordinating meetings (calls) with other CB task leads & main contributors • Reporting • Organize CB (“do”) workshops (side events) at int’l prof. events (e.g. AARSE Oct, 2008, Accra, Ghana, EUMETSAT User Conf,…) on use of GEOnetcast (data access, sharing) – Open Source (freeware); = gaps & need evaluation in practice in regions

  6. Coordination with other tasks • CB 07-01b has “Feeder role” to GEO Portal & Geonetcast CB Services and BP Registry • Close coordination requested with: • GEO Portal – CB Services entries AR-07-02 • Open Source CB task CB-07-01e • GEONETCast Education channel CB-06-04 • GEO Best Practices Registry DA-06-07 • Resource Mobilization, donors CB-07-01a • CB activities in SBA themes • CB for Water Resources Mgt. e.g. WA-06-07,.. • CB for Disaster Mgt. & Knowledge Network CB-07-02 • Others, NWP cap. building, ADC (SDI aspects),..

Some ITC GEO CB task inputs 2008.. • GEO CB Training-focussed Workshop: • AARSE 2008, pre event, 24-26 Oct, Accra, Ghana; GEOSS Interoperability for Water Security & Governance • EUMETSAT USER 2008 Forum, 4-7 Oct, Accra, Ghana • 52North/ILWIS Open Source system development, ITC’s free software environment for GEONETCAST data reception and application development, visualization • E.g. used in EU FP7 DEVCOCast, EU FP7 CEOP-AEGIS projects, etc. • FOSS4G conference, Cape Town, 25-28 Sep, 2008 • E-learning module (ITC), under design & development: GEONETCast for Water Security & Governance (and other SBA areas…)
