  6. Remember the Facts… It takes over 1 million years for a plastic bottle to decompose. Americans throw away 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour. You could run a 60-watt light bulb for 3 hours using the energy saved from recycling a plastic bottle. Plastic thrown into the Pacific Ocean has formed a “garbage patch” twice the size of Texas.
