  2. Interviews form an important process in the recruiting process. Transcribing job interviews with the assistance of a business transcription service is an easy and efficient way for employers to assess each candidate even after the interview. Moreover, with the transcripts ready, the hiring team can have a more fruitful discussion regarding the way each candidate performed and make a wise selection. An interview is a selective procedure that links the employer and employee via communication. Choosing the right person for the organization is the most important decision. According to a 2017 Harvard Business Review post, 80 percent of the turnover is due to bad hiring decisions. Bad hiring occurs when companies recruit a person just because the hiring team “liked” them. The hiring process must be efficient and a combination of interviewing techniques can be employed to ensure that the right person is hired. Behavioral interview is one such technique employers use to evaluate a candidate’s future performance. They ask questions about the applicant’s behavior in past situations that are similar to the ones required in the role the candidate is expected to fill. Behavior-based interview questions are used to evaluate the candidate’s knowledge, skill, ability and other important competencies required for the job. fastcompany.com carried an article highlighting how candidates can prepare well for an interview where behavior-based questions may be asked. The important tips suggested include the following:  A behaviour based question often is to talk about something you have done in the past. So, think about common behavior-based questions from your field. For example, if you are a nurse then you may be asked about how you handled a hostile patient. A project manager may be asked about a process that was developed and its outcome.  Construct your story based on the STAR method i.e. Situation: Talk about a recent challenge and situation that you faced Task: Say what you achieved from the situation Action: Talk about why and how you handled the situation and what the other alternatives were. Result: The outcomes of your actions. Explain how you achieved your goals. The STAR method gives the interviewer everything that he or she needs to know like the milieu of the story, what was required of you, the specific steps you took, and its result. www.legaltranscriptionservice.com 918-221-7810

  3. Develop your own story circle: You can develop your own story in just three steps: Decide on a name for your story that brings back some memory or other. Think of different types of behavior-based questions this story could answer. If you are unable to answer any four out of all possible questions then discard it, and rework. The last step is to emphasize different parts of the story depending on the question.  Come up with more stories: Write as many stories as possible and read them several times. Find out the possible questions and identify questions you think may be asked to meet the employer’s requirements and the duties expected of you. Be prepared to face questions about your time and stress management. Ensure that each story you come up with has a different set of questions.  Do not memorize the story as it is; remember the name of the story and the general idea. You can write down the names of the stories and use it as a quick reference during the interview. Behavioral interviews provide a good idea of a candidate’s skills and education to prospective employers. The interviews can be transcribed into accurate transcripts which help the employer evaluate each candidate and choose the best one.
