  4. Random reading and prior goals. How I aim to do it:E-learning 'bottom up' rather than 'top down' when encouraged to read widely for an e-learning review at Pakuranga College.http://2012maths.wikispaces.com/Elearning+future+focus This made me revisit the possibilities that facebook has to offer.

  5. DescribeA facebook group is being used by studentsto help each other studyand for me to help them when they need it.

  6. Inform • Background: I have wikispaces for my students and wanted to get more student input, make access to my resources easier and encourage learners to create content. • I have recently created facebook groups for each of my classes and my year 11 class have started to have learning conversations on the group page. • I help them with video, documents and hints. • I encourage them to share their learning journeys, and help each other. • I feel that their thinking is visible, study is visible and learning is visible.

  7. Confront • Yes – I was excited at the time, but only 6 out of thirty students were participating to the discussions. • The boy that jumped in first has a hearing aid so the forum really suited him. • Do we want to be on call 24/7? • I helped students when they needed it – so they could make better use of study time. • I saw their misconceptions in a way I never had before. • Theory would normally be included here – so I should note I was trying to make thinking visible and have succeeded in that goal.

  8. Reconstruct • This is a step in the direction I am trying to go. • I must enjoy the moment. • I would like to see older students mentor younger students in this environment. • I am interested in the external exam results, has it helped? • Issues about who is in the group should be discussed with students at the start of the year. (I love the possibilities here!)
