  5. Overdrive Gearset Ring Gear Carrier • The OD gearset is a simple planetary gearset. • The carrier is the input from the torque converter. • The ring gear is the output to the main gearset. Sun Gear Tom Birch, 8/06

  6. ODG 2 Overdrive Band Overdrive Clutch One-Way Clutch • The one-way clutch transmits torque in D1, D2, & D3. • The OD clutch is used in Manual 1, 2, & 3 to provide engine braking. • The OD band is used in D4. Tom Birch, 8/06

  11. Coast Clutch Coast Clutch Overdrive one-way clutch • The coast/overdrive clutch is used in Manual 1, 2, 3, and reverse. • It locks the overdrive gearset in a 1:1 ratio. • It prevents the one-way clutch from overrunning. Tom Birch, 8/06
