  8. Business Academy As a Freshman you can take: Introduction to Business Marketing I This will allow you to explore opportunities along the Business pathwayand join DECA

  9. Information Technology If you are interested in the Information Technology Pathway here are the classes that you can take as a Freshman: Intro to Computing Technology Literacy Introduction to Networking Web Design 1 *Intro to Computing is pre-requisite for other 3 courses

  10. Air Force Junior ROTC Objectives • Educate and train high school cadets in citizenship • Promote community service • Instill responsibility, character & self discipline • Provide instruction in air and space fundamentals

  11. AFJROTC 1 In AFJROTC 1 you will learn: • Leadership Education I – Citizenship, Character & Air Force Tradition • Aviation History • Uniform Wear • Drill & Ceremonies • Physical Training

  12. Special Teams Benefits • Drill Team • Sabre Team • Color Guard • Compete for service academy appointments • Compete for ROTC scholarships • Additional rank upon enlistment • May earn FHS JROTC letter • PE credit for Drill Team/Color Guard and Drill and Ceremonies class participation

  14. FHS Agriculture Introduction to Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources is the first course on this pathway. This course is designed to introduce Agricultural: • Careers • Enterprises • Practices • Sciences

  15. Biotechnology – Project Lead the Way The first step along this pathway is: Principles of Biomedical Science This course is designed to let you explore concepts of biology and medicine in a case study format. If you like Science & CSI this course is for you!

  16. Engineering at FHS The first course along this pathway is: Introduction to Engineering Design You will learn the basics of Engineering, which include: • Designing • Testing • Analyzing various projects and challenges • You will use industry standard software & equipment

  17. Honors English I What is Honors English? • Honors English is a faster paced class with a heavier workload (there is more reading & writing) • Students are also expected to complete independent study assignments • Students must complete a Fall Break assignment that includes reading a novel and a written assignment • There may be a summer assignment • This is a great class to prep for upper level college classes such as Concurrent Enrollment and Advanced Placement classes Honors Application • English teacher recommendation • Admission letter **Due Tuesday, January 29th at FMS**

Honors Biology • Covers same content & academic standards of Biology • Requires more problem solving and use of critical thinking skills • Strong organizational skills, data collection & interpretation, and reflection are required • Self-motivation and self-regulation are crucial for success • Application required • There will be a summer assignment • Summer assignment does count toward grade in course ***Due Tuesday, January 29th at FMS**

  21. How to Register for Classes • Go to the FHS website and click on Freshman Course Guide 2019-2020. The classes are also listed on your registration card. • Fill out the registration card. Required classes are listed in each core subject area. • If you’d like Honors English 1 and/or Honors Biology, please select in the box(es) for English 1 and/or Biology. • Pick your alternate choices wisely – the classes listed in alternates may end up on your schedule! • Plan according to graduation requirements- located on the back of the registration card • Make sure your name is on your registration card! **Due Tuesday, January 29th in the FMS Counseling Office**

  22. Registration Card Due Date Once your registration card is complete with a parent signature turn it into the FMS Counseling Office Tuesday, January 29th. Computer registration will be 1/30-2/1. If you do not turn in your registration card your classes will be selected for you!
