  3. Environment • Woodlands, forests • Game animals available (deer) as well as sufficient crop growing conditions • Cold winters

  6. Housing • Lived in villages and farmed, lives in “wigwams” or “longhouses” because they were longer than they were wide. These were made of wood and elm bark and had door openings at each end, but noft windows or doors on the sides.

  8. Political and Social Organization • Iroquis confederacy consisted of 5 democratic nations • US Gov’t is modeled after it • Women chose leaders and were politically powerful

  9. Spiritual Beliefs • Lacrosse was considered a religious celebration • Believed in a clan of animals • They would organized themselves according to their mothers’ clan
