  2. Project Overview • Backend Revenue Accountingwas a conversion from a Front-End Revenue Accounting model to a Back-End Revenue Accounting model for all taxes processed by the Taxation & Revenue Department (TRD). It is used to track detailed information about monies in GenTax® distributed into revenue accounts. It also provides greater revenue detail about the actual disposition of revenue in the system. • Collection Standalone allows for downloading collection information to remote devices. This functionality allows collectors remote access to their cases while in the field.

  3. Project Overview • Collection Outsourcingallows TRD to pursue taxes owed to the State of New Mexico by referring delinquent accounts to a contractor. TRD will assign accounts with delinquent liabilities to a contractor based on criteria defined by the Audit and Compliance Division.

  4. Accomplishments • Backend Revenue Accounting / • Collection Standalone • Moved to production – 05/05/2008 • Collection Outsourcing • Moved into production – 09/30/2008

  5. DoIT System Impact • Use existing hardware and software residing at DoIT Data Center • Additional Web, Application, and Database servers for TAP reside at the DoIT Data Center • Production implementation of Backend Revenue Accounting/Collection Standalone/Collection Outsourcing was handled by TRD in same fashion as all other GenTax® project moves • Network impact on DoIT – no additional impact; application changes enhanced current system features

  6. Security Strategy • Utilizes current GenTax®security structure • Groups • Functions • Roles • Incorporated into current TRD backup schedule • Nightly backups • Incremental backups every thirty (30) minutes • All GenTax® systems housed at DoIT data center • All transmitted data encrypted

  7. Conclusion • The Backend Revenue Accounting system has improved reporting and online access to distribution information. It has also provided a more robust, accurate, and trusted revenue accounting scheme for all taxes. • Collection Standalone has provided auditors with more accurate and up-to-date information on their cases out in the field. Auditors are also able to give the taxpayers more information at the time of their visit.

  8. Conclusion • Collection Outsourcing allows the Taxation and Revenue Department to pursue delinquent liabilities through an outside contractor. These delinquent liabilities would otherwise not be pursued.
