Baltimore Community Resource Center, Inc. identified and improved a cumbersome urinalysis collection process. By implementing scheduled collection times and gender-specific staff availability, they reduced staff workload and streamlined client visits. Data showed a decrease in urine samples collected, indicating an improved process. Surveys of both clients and staff were positive.

What we did • We conducted a walk-through and indentified a very cumbersome and chaotic process for the collection of specimens for urinalysis.
Our Aim • To reduce the number of people coming in at one time for urinalysis. • Reduce work load of front line staff
Change Process • Developed a schedule for specific times and days for urinalysis collection • Developed a schedule for gender specific staff to be available for monitoring the collection process
Results • Data was tracked for baseline before and after the changes were made. We looked at: decreased amount of urines collected decreased the work load of front line staff
