    • Places: Iowa, districts, Mars, Antarctica, library
    • Things: okra, Great Pyramid, toothpicks, merry-go-round
    • Ideas: peace, truth, artistry, excellence, beauty

  • Common Nouns
    • Names any one of a group of persons, places, things or ideas and is not capitalized
  • Proper Nouns
    • Names a specific person, place, thing or idea and is capitalized
