  4. Giant puppets Giant puppets are large puppets that are life size or larger. Operated by the actor or puppeteer. Giant puppets use: -Stilts -Operating system for the actor or puppeteer Shows with Giant Puppets include: -The BFG by Roald Dahl -Satyagraha by Philip Glass

  5. Marionette puppets Marionettes are puppets controlled from above using wires or strings depending on regional variations. A marionette’s puppeteer is called a manipulator. Marionette puppets use: -string -control bars Shows with Marionette puppets include: -most shows can be re-created with marionette puppets

  6. Rod puppets A hand-rod puppet, a style developed by Jim Henson, is a puppet which is controlled by both hands. The puppeteer’s dominant hand goes into the head of the puppet. The puppeteer’s less dominant hand controls the “arm rods”. Rod puppets use: -hand rods Shows with Rod puppets include: -Avenue Q -The Muppets
