NNME The way forward To do before March 2013 • Identify savings for allergy & INR and decide whether to retain in metrics • Clarify metric for insulin relating to self admin and include in metrics database • Clarify metric for NSAID and include in metrics database • Clarify metric for delayed and omitted medicines • Ambulance to clarify position re diclofenac

NNME The way forward Now Core Practice • Submission of data for metrics • High risk injectable medicines (SCIP 1&2) • Green bags • Safe and secure storage of medicines in secondary care Commissioning • Metrics, current, i.e. meds rec • New, insulin and NSAID, omitted and delayed medicines • Allergy and INR if agreed (see above)

NNME The way forward Procurement Pharmacist • Provide data for NSAID and other metrics as appropriate • Support high risk medicines in secondary care Safe Medicines Pathway • SCIP 3 (high risk injectable medicines at home and in community) • Facilitate community/prison/ambulance working group for safe and secure medicines storage • Medicines Management e-learning • Clinical aspects of CDs

NNME The way forward Issues still to be resolved • Future of procure support • Funding and hosting collation of metrics • Future role of vte group and relevance of INR measurements • Monitoring Accountable officer for CDs • Co-ordination and leadership of Chief Pharmacists network • Continued support from ESEE network to many of these projects

  7. Key risk – long term future of: • ESEE regional services – interim plans in place for the next two years, but ongoing support is key to many projects • Procurement pharmacist role, including analyst support, need to confirm the long term viability of the post, through Procure or otherwise. • Collaborative network of Chief pharmacists.
