  3. Archaic Indians • Climate warmer so able to hunt forest animals • Fished and collected nuts, berries and fruits found in forests

  4. Woodland Indians • Hunted in forests • Planted seeds to grow as source of food so didn’t have to move as much • Crops (sunflowers, squash) supplemented food hunted and gathered

  5. Late Pre-Historic Indians • Depended on crops for food • Planted/cultivated corn, beans and squash • Lived near fertile soil • Also hunted forest animals and fished for food
