Diversity • - is more then just different ethnic and racial groups…it is gender, sexual orientation, cultural and religious diversity. • There are 2 dimensions of Diversity: • Primary Dimensions • Things that are different and cannot be changed • Secondary Dimensions • - Things that are differnent but can be changed What is Diversity?

Definitions Assimilation Pluralism • the process whereby a minority group gradually adapts to the customs and attitudes of the prevailing culture and customs. • the blending or fusing of minority groups into the dominant society • Examples: • Learning a language • Giving up cultural Holidays • Changing Names- I.e. Czeribo to Cirbo • when small groups within a larger society maintain their unique cultural identities • Examples: • Amish- • Native Americans- • Keeping cultural Holidays
